(5-star review) I went back to give this place another try, and had a much better experience. We were promptly served, and the beer was cold and the food was good. We'll go back .==============================(3-star review)Walked into a fairly crowded bar through an empty dining room, waited at the bar for about 10 minutes without being acknowledged, and walked out. It seemed clean enough, but the service was sorely lacking. I'd guess there were at least 20 people at the bar, and I only saw one bartender and one server. I did see a guy behind the bar, but I didn't see him help anyone, so I assume he was a manager -- hopefully a new one. I may go back again to give it another shot. I like giving my business to local places, but I also expect good service. Hopefully this was an isolated incident, and not the norm.

Steak was good service was bad its a bar that sells steak

The steak was rare and should have been medium well. The rest of the food was cold. I'll never go back.

Good food. They have an outaide patio with corn hole and tvs, also you can smoke out there (though not in the restaurant/bar. They do karaoke on tuesdays and Fridays. Awesome singers.Also madison was my qaitress and she was a sweetheart. Highly recommend her.

Always a good time at Macs

My coworker and I ordered lunch from Mac’s today. We split fried mushrooms, a Philly cheesesteak, and a mushroom Swiss burger. We order food every week and wanted to try something new- this is now our favorite restaurant in Athens! All the food was sooo good! If you like fried mushrooms, you need to try theirs! They are amazing! We will definitely be ordering Mac’s again next Saturday!

Server was very nice and pleasant but after waiting 1 hour after ordering and still no food was told it would still be a little while. We asked for our check to pay for our margarita and Diet Coke and left. Extremely new to this area and this was my first time there AND LAST! 8:40 pm and now trying to find a place to have a real meal; unhappy camper that’s for sure.

Went to listen to music. Daniel Jones performed and what a talented songwriter/singer! Had parmesan crusted tilapia, green beans and fried okra and the food was outstanding. Great experience.

Nice laid back place, it's local which is the best. Karaoke on Tuesday, wing are always great. Service is always good. Light crowd tonight.

KJ is awesome!!Nice atmosphere. Friendly folks, but waitress was a bit slow and nobody bothered to let anyone know the kitchen would be closing soon. We wanted food and were told kitchen was closed. Not cool! When you drink, you wanna eat.

It's okay. They need a better selection of whiskey.

Had to set in the dining room, connected to the bar. The waitresses were dressed tacky! They could have been working corners. The tables and booths are old. Perfect, if your drinking. Its Definately not the food people go there for.

An American classic. Simple, unassuming, relaxing, quiet, affordable, and darned good food. The complaints about the service being slow were not true with us. The waitresses were attentive and kind.Porterhouse steak for $23! Where else do find such?! And it was as good a one in any other restaurant costing two or three times the price. I really don't like fried pickles, but the one's created at Mac's are a whole different ball-game! Excellent and uniquely superior to any others I've tried. The restaurant's layout with the bar is smart, its almost like two different businesses, so if you get whichever one you came for. Heard a bit of the live music before retiring, and it was really good. However, we sat in the restaurant having a uninterrupted conversation while said music played in the bar area, and didn't have to raise our voices whatsoever. Again, Mac's is a simple American-style pleasure in a quaint small southern town.

The entertainment was awful! The server was slow, our table was dirty as were the others. We sat down at a table and waited fifteen minutes. The server asked what we wanted to drink and if we were ordering food. We had to ask to have our table wiped off. She never came back to our table. We had to catch someone else. We'll never go back.

An awesome smoke-free hangout. Great staff. Great drinks. If you love karaoke, they're always running on Tuesday and Thursday. My friends and I are always having a blast and singing. It doesn't matter what you sing, or how well or bad you might feel you do - everyone is always cheering you on.

I gave it a one star because I can't give it less. Service the day we went was ridiculously bad. Never got my food and what we did get was so late that it was cold and overcooked.

The only bar I've been too in 20 years. Friends had a fun gathering after the wedding reception there & we were invited. I felt safe, atmosphere was clean, staff nice, band was really good & fun personality. We haven't gone back, but we may. Just to hear the band.

Great staff. We went to watch the orange bowl, didn't have a sitter for our 3 month old so he went as well. The server took excellent care of us and even closed the partition doors for the family area so we would have some privacy from the rather enthusiastic patrons at the bar. We had a great time and plan on going back again.
